Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

February 24, 2024 -- Attention: victims of the medQ data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced medQ data breach.

On December 26, 2023, it was identified that medQ systems had suffered a cybersecurity breach, resulting in the encryption of files by an external entity on certain servers within the medQ Platform, which is hosted externally. Immediately upon discovery, actions were taken to isolate the medQ Platform from the network, legal experts were consulted for guidance on the ensuing investigation, and a specialized cybersecurity firm was hired to carry out a detailed forensic analysis.

The subsequent investigation found that between December 20, 2023, and December 26, 2023, an unauthorized party had accessed and duplicated some files from the medQ Platform. A thorough examination of the data was conducted to pinpoint individuals potentially affected by this breach. Efforts were made to secure contact details and communicate with these individuals promptly after the investigation concluded on February 16, 2024.

As a result of the data breach, medQ is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 54,300 individuals were affected by the medQ data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security numbers, Driver’s License numbers, dates of birth, health data, subscriber ID number, diagnoses, lab results, medication, other treatment data, health insurance and claim data, provider names, and dates of treatment.
