WaterStreet
Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

Posted: May 8, 2025 -- Attention, victims of the WaterStreet data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by WaterStreet.

WaterStreet Data Breach Summary:

Approximately 25,000 individuals were affected by the WaterStreet data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security numbers, and bank account data.

On March 17, 2025, WaterStreet identified irregular activity within its system environment. In response, the organization reportedly initiated an internal investigation to determine the origin and extent of the event and to return affected computer systems to operational status. The inquiry purportedly established that, on the same date, an unauthorized individual had gained access to specific files.

Following this discovery, a detailed examination of the compromised files was reportedly undertaken to assess whether they contained sensitive data. That review apparently revealed that certain files included personal information belonging to specific individuals. Notifications have been issued to affected parties after confirming that their information was present among the impacted records.

As part of its response, WaterStreet claims to have conducted a full security assessment, analyzed the contents of relevant data for sensitive material, and began informing those whose data had been exposed. In parallel, the organization claims to have reviewed its internal protocols concerning the storage and handling of personal data, with the goal of minimizing the likelihood of recurrence. WaterStreet has also stated that it is committed to notifying relevant regulatory bodies, consistent with applicable legal and compliance obligations.

As a result of the data breach, WaterStreet is offering free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
