About WEL Companies:
WEL Companies is a transportation and logistics provider headquartered in De Pere, Wisconsin. The company traces its origins to 1975, when it was established as Wisconsin Express Lines as a refrigerated trucking operation focused initially on truckload and less-than-truckload shipments. Following a name change in 1988, the business incorporated warehousing and expanded its scope beyond pure trucking. After a period of contraction in the early 2000s due to ownership transitions, the company rebuilt its operations and currently maintains a fleet exceeding 500 power units and 800 refrigerated trailers.
The firm primarily handles temperature-controlled freight for sectors such as food, beverage, and dairy, operating across the United States with a combination of company drivers and equipment. Its services encompass over-the-road truckload transportation, dedicated contract carriage, and storage/distribution through owned warehousing facilities, adhering to federal standards for food safety. WEL Companies holds a satisfactory Department of Transportation safety rating and participates in environmental programs like SmartWay, while maintaining memberships in various industry associations related to trucking and motor carriers. The operation continues as a privately held, multi-divisional entity centered on refrigerated supply chain solutions.
