Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by VeriSource Services.

VeriSource Services data breach summary:

More than 50,000 individuals were affected by the VeriSource Services data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.

VeriSource Services, Inc. ("VSI") recently experienced a data security breach involving the personal information of employees and dependents associated with client companies. According to VSI, on February 28, 2024, it identified unusual activity within its computer network. Upon detection, the company claims it promptly secured its systems and initiated a thorough investigation, enlisting the expertise of independent cybersecurity professionals. The investigation revealed that unauthorized access to certain personal information occurred around February 27, 2024.

Following this discovery, VSI claims it undertook a review to discover the extent of the data affected and the specific personal information compromised. The review purportedly concluded on August 12, 2024, confirming the involvement of sensitive personal data. VSI subsequently began notifying the individuals impacted by this breach.

In response to the incident, VSI claims it immediately informed the FBI, the U.S. Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, and relevant consumer reporting agencies. Furthermore, the company has implemented additional measures to fortify its systems against future security incidents.

As a result of the data breach, VeriSource Services is offering free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
