Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by TradeZero America.

TradeZero America Data Breach Summary:

Thousands of individuals were affected by the TradeZero America data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial brokerage and/or bank account data, and passport numbers.

On or about July 29, 2024, TradeZero became aware of activity impacting the environment of its third-party vendor, Tawk.To. TradeZero initiated an investigation and found that an unauthorized individual might have accessed personal information in files related to customer communications on the Tawk.To platform.

Upon this discovery, TradeZero claims to have commenced an investigation to verify the nature and scope of the incident. This process includes ensuring the security of its systems, examining data for sensitive information, and notifying individuals who may be affected.

According to TradeZero, it is reviewing its policies and procedures regarding the storage and access of such information to lessen the chance of a similar event in the future. TradeZero will also inform regulatory authorities as mandated by law.

As a result of the data breach, TradeZero America is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
