Sturgis Hospital Data Breach Details:

In September of 2025, Sturgis Hospital in Michigan reported a data breach impacting about 77,771 individuals, stemming from two separate incidents of unauthorized network access. The first intrusion was detected in December 2024, when unusual activity was identified in part of the hospital’s computer systems, prompting immediate cooperation with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and contain the event. While that inquiry was ongoing, a second episode of unauthorized activity occurred in June 2025, which also led to a separate expert-led investigation and remediation efforts.

Following these reviews, it was determined that an unknown third party may have accessed or acquired files containing sensitive information. The hospital has since notified law enforcement, reinforced system protections, and begun notifying affected patients, advising them to stay vigilant by monitoring financial and health accounts, reviewing credit reports, and considering fraud alerts.

It is unclear if Sturgis Hospital is offering credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to any affected individuals at this time.
