Upon discovering the breach, Scout Energy claims to have promptly secured the affected systems and initiated a comprehensive investigation with the help of industry experts.

According to Scout Energy, the investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed and obtained certain files from its computer servers between January 10, 2024, and April 2, 2024. To prevent future incidents, Scout Energy claims it has implemented additional safeguards and technical security measures to strengthen its network security.

As a result of the data breach, Scout Energy is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.
