Approximately 31,000 individuals were affected by the Pocahontas Medical Clinic data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, diagnostic data, condition data, treatment data, medication data, and health insurance data.

On May 30, 2024, Pocahontas Medical Clinic (PMC) was the victim of a network security breach wherein an unauthorized entity infiltrated its computer network environment. Upon discovery of the breach, PMC claims it immediately terminated all access to the affected network and engaged a third-party forensic incident response team to secure the network and assess the scope of the intrusion. The investigation purportedly revealed that the unauthorized party may have accessed certain personal information.

Following an extensive review of the data that might have been compromised, which concluded on July 1, 2024, PMC confirmed the potential exposure of sensitive personal information. PMC is issuing written notifications to all individuals who may be affected. In response to the incident, PMC claims to have promptly launched an investigation, collaborating with IT experts to verify the integrity of its network environment. Additionally, PMC claims it has enhanced its cybersecurity defenses to mitigate the risk of future data breaches.

As a result of the data breach, Pocahontas Medical Clinic is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
