Approximately 48,000 individuals were affected by the Peco Foods data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, driver’s license data, financial data (i.e., account numbers, credit or debit card numbers), and/or health insurance data.
Peco Foods recently faced a disruption in its computer network that affected access to certain computer systems. To address the issue, the company undertook an investigation with the help of third-party experts to understand the problem's nature and extent. During this investigation, Peco Foods discovered that some information in their computer system was accessed without authorization around December 4, 2023.
Following this discovery, Peco Foods reviewed the affected data to identify what types of information was compromised and who was impacted. This review was completed on May 23, 2024. Peco Foods then worked to update contact information to notify those who were affected. After learning about the incident, the company claims to have taken measures to secure its computer systems and improve network security to prevent future breaches.
As a result of the data breach, Peco Foods is offering free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
