Posted: February 13, 2025 -- Attention, victims of the New Era Life Insurance data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by New Era Life Insurance.

New Era Life Insurance Data Breach Summary:

More than 150,000 individuals were affected by the New Era Life Insurance data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: Names, Addresses, Social Security Numbers, Financial Data (e.g. account numbers, credit or debit card numbers), Medical Data, Health Insurance Data, and Dates of Birth.

On December 18, 2024, New Era Life Insurance detected unusual activity within its network. In response, the company implemented its incident response protocols, which involved isolating specific systems and initiating an investigation with the support of an external cybersecurity firm. Law enforcement authorities were also informed of the matter.

The investigation concluded that an unauthorized entity accessed the network between December 9, 2024, and December 18, 2024, during which certain files were copied from multiple systems. The review of the potentially affected data was finalized on January 31, 2025, and identified files containing data related to policyholders, agents, and insurance carrier partners.

As a result of the data breach, New Era Life Insurance is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
