Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by Mystic Valley Elder Services.

Mystic Valley Elder Services Data Breach Summary:

Approximately 87,000 individuals were affected by the Mystic Valley Elder Services data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, payment card numbers, online credentials, financial account numbers, health insurance data, and medical data.

Mystic Valley Elder Services experienced a data incident that may have involved certain sensitive information. On April 5, 2024, the organization discovered activity on its computer network. Upon identifying the issue, an investigation was initiated, steps were taken to contain the incident, and law enforcement was notified.

A cybersecurity firm was also engaged to assist with the investigation and to confirm the security of the systems. The investigation determined that a third party accessed the computer systems on April 5, 2024, and may have accessed and acquired certain files.

In addition to the actions described above, steps have reportedly been taken by Mystic Valley Elder Services to reduce the risk of this type of incident occurring in the future.

As a result of the data breach, Mystic Valley Elder Services is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
