In May of 2026, MemberSource Credit Union disclosed a security incident involving unauthorized access to sensitive data, which took place on or around June 3, 2025. Thousands of individuals were affected by the MemberSource Credit Union data breach, and breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: name, Social Security number, driver's license/state identification number, and financial account information. As a result of the data breach, MemberSource Credit Union is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.

MemberSource Credit Union Data Breach Details:
MemberSource Credit Union recently disclosed a data breach reportedly tied to a ransomware attack. Public filings identify the breach date as June 3, 2025. A public breach-tracking report says a ransomware group claimed responsibility and reported that about 50 GB of data had been taken from the credit union.
The exposed information reportedly included sensitive personal and financial data. Public summaries of the notice list names, Social Security numbers, government ID information, and financial account information. The full number of affected people nationwide has not been publicly confirmed, but one public report says 22,308 Texas residents were affected. MemberSource disclosed the incident to state regulators beginning around May 8, 2026, including filings or notices in California, Texas, and Vermont.
MemberSource sent notice letters to people whose information may have been involved. The notice advised affected people to monitor accounts and credit reports, report known or suspected identity theft to law enforcement, the state Attorney General, and the FTC, and consider fraud alerts or credit freezes. The California notice also states that MemberSource can be contacted at 10100 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77042, or by phone at 713-627-4000, and that the notice was not delayed by law enforcement.
