About Institute of Culinary Education:
The Institute of Culinary Education is a private culinary school founded in New York City in 1975 as Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School and later renamed the Institute of Culinary Education. Today, ICE operates campuses in Lower Manhattan and Pasadena, California, with the Los Angeles site designated as a branch campus of the New York location. The school is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and is licensed by state regulators in New York and California. In addition to on-site programs, ICE also offers online training options.
ICE provides diploma and associate-degree pathways spanning Culinary Arts, Pastry & Baking Arts, Health-Centered (plant-based) Culinary Arts, Restaurant & Culinary Management, and Tourism, Travel & Hospitality Management. In 2020, ICE entered an agreement with the International Culinary Center (formerly the French Culinary Institute), incorporating aspects of ICC’s curriculum and heritage following ICC’s closure; the merger expanded ICE’s programmatic lineage while keeping instruction centered at its New York and Los Angeles facilities. The Los Angeles campus lists associate-degree options alongside diploma tracks, and the institution promotes a structured curriculum delivered in modular coursework.
