Hightower Holding, LLC was listed on Maine’s public data-breach notification page on March 23, 2026, which appears to be the first public notice that the incident had been formally reported. Public reporting tied to that notice says the breach may affect 131,483 people. Based on those same public summaries, the exposed data may include personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.

According to the report, the company learned on January 9, 2026, that a user account had been compromised, which led to unauthorized access within its systems. An investigation later found that files were downloaded without authorization between January 8 and January 9, 2026. After identifying the files involved, the company worked with outside cybersecurity, forensic, and data review specialists to determine what information was affected and which individuals were connected to it.
