Hennessy Advisors Data Breach Details:
Hennessy Advisors, an investment firm that manages a series of mutual funds, recently disclosed a cybersecurity event compromising investor records. The company first identified unusual network behavior on March 30, 2025, which disrupted access to internal systems and prompted an immediate response that included hiring outside forensic experts, locking down vulnerable areas, and ongoing surveillance. Although early checks found no signs of stolen data, deeper examination in late December 2025 confirmed that outsiders had extracted and publicly shared files containing sensitive details belonging to certain fund participants. By early February 2026, the firm had pinpointed which individuals were impacted and began preparing personalized alerts.
In response, Hennessy Advisors arranged no-cost identity safeguards for everyone affected through a specialized provider. These services feature extended monitoring of credit files and online exposure risks, a million-dollar reimbursement policy for theft-related losses, and professional assistance to restore any compromised identities. Recipients received instructions to activate the offer by May 23, 2026, using a unique code provided in their notice. The firm also supplied guidance on reviewing financial statements, obtaining annual credit reports from the three major bureaus, placing alerts or freezes if desired, and contacting regulators or law enforcement if fraud appears.
