In early 2025, Goshen Medical Center, a healthcare provider in North Carolina, experienced a cybersecurity incident where an unauthorized actor accessed its computer systems, potentially compromising sensitive information belonging to numerous patients. The breach began with unauthorized entry on February 15, followed by the detection of suspicious activities on March 4, and further confirmation of data exposure through an investigation completed on September 12, 2025.
The organization responded by hiring external cybersecurity experts to assess the scope, enhancing system protections to mitigate future risks, and providing notification letters to those impacted along with free credit monitoring services.
As a result of the data breach, Goshen Medical Center is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
