Internal Medicine Associates, LLC, operating as Gastrointestinal Medicine Associates (GMA), has recently disclosed a significant data breach that may have compromised the confidentiality of certain sensitive information. On April 15, 2024, GMA claims to have detected anomalous activity within its computer network, prompting an exhaustive investigation to determine the nature and extent of the intrusion. The inquiry ultimately ascertained that, between April 5, 2024, and April 15, 2024, an unidentified actor illicitly accessed specific servers within the GMA network and exfiltrated data therefrom.
Upon identifying the potentially compromised data, GMA reportedly undertook a meticulous examination to delineate the scope of the breach and to ascertain the identities of the affected individuals. This analysis was concluded on July 23, 2024. In response to the breach, GMA claims to have implemented immediate measures to fortify its network security and initiated a comprehensive review of its cybersecurity protocols.
GMA claims it is committed to the ongoing assessment and enhancement of its data privacy policies and procedures to mitigate the risk of future incidents. Furthermore, GMA stated it has reported this breach to federal law enforcement agencies and is in the process of notifying all relevant regulatory authorities in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
It is unclear if Gastrointestinal Medicine Associates is offering credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to any affected individuals at this time.
