First Commonwealth data breach summary:

Approximately 98,000 individuals were affected by the First Commonwealth data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and/or account numbers.

Around June 27, 2024, First Commonwealth noticed some unusual activity in their computer network. Once they found this activity, they quickly worked to contain it and started an investigation with the help of independent cybersecurity experts to figure out what happened and if any sensitive information was involved. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized person had accessed certain files and data in their systems around June 26, 2024.

First Commonwealth then conducted a thorough review of all possibly affected information to identify any personal details that might have been accessed. By July 1, 2024, they confirmed that some member personal information might have been involved in the incident. They also informed law enforcement about the incident. Additionally, First Commonwealth is providing written notice of the incident to the three major credit reporting agencies: TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax, as well as to relevant regulators.

As a result of the data breach, First Commonwealth is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
