They initiated an investigation with the support of leading external cybersecurity experts to understand the incident's scope and impact, collaborated with law enforcement, informed relevant regulatory authorities, and successfully removed the unauthorized actor from their network.
During the investigation, it was discovered that certain individuals' personal information might have been accessed without permission. First American Financial Corporation, aided by data review specialists, worked to identify the types of information potentially affected and the individuals involved. They retained top cybersecurity experts to assist in the investigation and remediation efforts.
First American Financial Corporation claims it has enhanced its network security measures as a result of the incident. They have continued to work with law enforcement and have notified the appropriate regulatory authorities to ensure a thorough response and prevent future occurrences.
As a result of the data breach, First American Financial is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.
