On February 18, 2024, Enterprise Financial Group (EFG) discovered a security breach affecting its internal computer systems. In response, EFG claims it immediately began working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate the issue, contain the breach, and address the problem. The investigation purportedly revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed and copied files from certain parts of EFG's network on the same day. This breach was apparently traced back to unknown vulnerabilities in a third-party VPN appliance.
After identifying the source of the breach, EFG claims it applied all available patches and collaborated closely with the third-party provider to reduce future risks. EFG also claims to have activated its incident response protocol, which involved further investigations with cybersecurity experts to secure its computer network. The company claims it has since fixed the vulnerability by applying the necessary patch and has strengthened its security measures to safeguard the privacy of the information stored on its systems. Additionally, as a precaution, EFG claims to have replaced the third-party VPN appliance to prevent any future unauthorized access.
As a result of the data breach, Enterprise Financial Group is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
