Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit
Posted: June 27, 2025 -- Attention, victims of the EmCentrix data breach.
Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by EmCentrix.
EmCentrix Data Breach Summary:
Approximately 59,000 individuals were affected by the EmCentrix data breach, and breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: Name or other personal identifier in combination with other personal information.
On August 14, 2024, EmCentrix experienced a network disruption, prompting an immediate investigation. Independent cybersecurity specialists were reportedly brought in to support the effort. The investigation later confirmed that certain files had been accessed or obtained without proper authorization.
A full review of the affected files reportedly followed, and by June 16, 2025, it was determined that some of the data included personal information. Following the discovery, the EmCentrix claims it took remediatory steps and introduced new security measures to reduce the likelihood of a similar event happening again.
As a result of the data breach, EmCentrix is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.

About EmCentrix:
EmCentrix is a developer of web-based human capital management tools. Their platform offers a unified system that covers core administrative functions—HR records, payroll processing, benefit enrollment, time and attendance tracking, employee self-service, scheduling, applicant tracking, COBRA administration, and more. The system operates on a .NET infrastructure and incorporates web services that allow interaction with a range of third-party systems, including payroll, biometric time clocks, carrier interfaces, and CRM tools.
The vendor emphasizes a single-entry model, in which user data entered into one module (for instance HR records or time punches) is propagated across other modules without manual re-entry, supporting data consistency across the suite. Customization options are available at the module level, including the ability to adjust reporting formats, user interfaces, data exports, integration points, and to build new functionality via developer services.
The company positions itself as serving a wide spectrum of clients—from small organizations to enterprises—across the lifecycle of employment, from recruiting through retirement. Their services encompass initial system implementation support, ongoing technical integration, hosting, and end-user support channels. Administration of payroll taxes, W‑2/1099 preparation, benefit claims (FSAs, HSAs, COBRA), and timekeeping are handed centrally through the EmCentrix platform.
