Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by Cornwell Quality Tools.
Cornwell Quality Tools Data Breach Summary:
Approximately 103,000 individuals were affected by the Cornwell Quality Tools data breach, and breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security Numbers, medical information, and financial account numbers.
On December 20, 2024, Cornwell Quality Tools became aware of unusual activity in its network. The company says it secured its systems, and engaged cybersecurity experts to help determine what happened. The investigation found that an unknown actor accessed the network and potentially acquired files on or around December 12, 2024. After reviewing the affected files, Cornwell Quality Tools determined that certain individuals’ personal information may have been involved.
Cornwell Quality Tools subsequently collected up-to-date mailing addresses to provide notification of the incident and recently began sending notifications to affected individuals. Cornwell Quality Tools says it also implemented additional security measures to harden its environment to prevent a similar event, and is notifying affected individuals with steps to protect their personal information.
As a result of the data breach, Cornwell Quality Tools is offering 12 months of complimentary Single Bureau Credit Monitoring/Single Bureau Credit Report/Single Bureau Credit Score services through IDX.
