Clackamas Community College Data Breach Details:

Clackamas Community College’s ("CCC") newly announced data breach (tied to January 2026 notification letters) appears to involve unauthorized access through a user account that later led to a small set of systems being accessed and files being taken. The timeline described in summaries of the consumer notices indicates CCC first noticed suspicious activity on or about September 10, 2025, and reset the password for the affected account. Later, on October 24, 2025, CCC identified additional suspicious activity and contained its network to limit further exposure.

Based on the same notice-based timeline, a forensic investigation concluded that on October 24, 2025, an unauthorized party accessed a limited number of systems and exfiltrated (copied out) certain files that same day. After that, CCC (with outside forensic support) reviewed the files that were involved and determined on December 18, 2025, that some of those files contained personal information (the specifics may vary by person and are typically listed in each individual letter). In other words: initial account-level suspicion in September, confirmed limited access + data taking in late October, and a later document-by-document review to identify what information was in scope by mid-December.

CCC’s notification phase followed weeks later: the timeline cited from the notice copies shows consumer letters mailed on or around January 8, 2026, along with regulatory filings (Oregon, Maine, Vermont, etc.). The notices also indicate CCC offered one year of IDX credit monitoring/identity protection.
