Upon discovering the breach, Avis claims it took immediate measures to terminate the intrusion, initiated a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity specialists, and notified the appropriate authorities.

According to Avis, the investigation revealed that the unauthorized access took place between August 3 and August 6, 2024. Following the incident, Avis claims it has been collaborating with cybersecurity experts to devise a strategy for strengthening the security of the compromised application.

Furthermore, the company has reportedly implemented additional protective measures across its systems and is conducting a thorough review of its security protocols to reinforce and augment its overall defenses.

As a result of the data breach, Avis Rent A Car is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
