Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

Posted: September 18, 2024 -- Attention, victims of the Altman Plants data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by Altman Plants.

Altman Plants data breach summary:

Thousands of individuals were affected by the Altman Plants data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, financial account data, payment card data, employer identification numbers, health insurance data, medical data, and username and password.

On or around September 11, 2023, Altman Specialty Plants (“Altman”) detected unauthorized activity affecting specific systems within its computer network. According to Altman, an investigation into the incident's nature and extent was initiated with support from cybersecurity experts.

The investigation confirmed that certain files and folders within the network were accessed without authorization on approximately September 11, 2023. Following this finding, Altman undertook a comprehensive process to determine the information potentially contained in the compromised environment, identify individuals whose information might have been affected, and examine Altman's records to obtain address information for those individuals. This process concluded on July 2, 2024.

Upon discovery of the incident, Altman also claims to have implemented additional safeguards and reviewed its policies and procedures related to data privacy and security. Altman is sending letters to individuals who may have been affected and for whom it possesses address information.

As a result of the data breach, Altman Plants is offering free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
