Approximately 280,000 individuals were affected by the Alabama Cardiovascular Group data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, dates of birth, social security numbers, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, medical data (e.g., dates of service, diagnoses, medications, images, lab results, and other treatment data), health insurance data, health insurance claims data, and usernames and passwords.
Alabama Cardiovascular Group (ACG) recently faced a security breach where unauthorized individuals accessed their computer network and obtained personal information. ACG discovered the breach on July 2, 2024, and claims it immediately took action by disconnecting their network from the internet and blocking the unauthorized access.
In response to this incident, ACG claims to have reset all user passwords and added extra security measures to prevent future breaches. ACG's investigation purportedly revealed that the unauthorized access occurred between June 6, 2024, and July 2, 2024. They have reported the incident to law enforcement and are cooperating with an ongoing investigation.
As a result of the data breach, Alabama Cardiovascular Group is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to some affected individuals.
