October 11, 2023 -- Attention: victims of the West Texas Gas data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced West Texas Gas data breach.

In May 2023, West Texas Gas detected unauthorized activity within its computer systems. West Texas Gas claims they swiftly initiated an investigation, determining that an unauthorized party accessed, copied, and deleted certain files. By September 13, 2023, West Texas Gas concluded that personal data might have been compromised. Upon detection, West Texas Gas claims it informed law enforcement, bolstered network security with leading threat monitoring tools, and updated controls. West Texas Gas claims that since these enhancements, no further unauthorized activities have been noted.

As a result of the data breach, West Texas Gas is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 56,000 individuals were affected by the West Texas Gas data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, social security numbers, tax identification numbers, and other personal data.
