On December 28, 2023, WebTPA Employer Services claims it identified suspicious activity within its computer network, prompting an immediate investigation. The company reportedly took swift action to mitigate the threat and enhance network security.

WebTPA has stated that it engaged leading third-party cybersecurity experts and notified federal law enforcement. The investigation revealed that between April 18 and April 23, 2023, unauthorized access to personal information may have occurred.

Upon discovering the potential data breach, WebTPA informed relevant benefit plans and insurance companies about the incident and the possible exposure of personal information. By March 25, 2024, WebTPA confirmed the affected individuals' data and provided this information to the benefit plans and insurance companies.

As a result of the data breach, WebTPA Employer Services is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Hundreds of thousands of individuals were affected by the WebTPA Employer Services data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, dates of death, contact data, and insurance data.
