Following the detection of the disturbance, Washington County Hospital severed all network connections and enlisted the expertise of both a dedicated cybersecurity firm and IT staff to help fortify the network's defenses. This team also embarked on a detailed forensic analysis to ascertain the extent and specifics of the disruption.

While this investigation remains active, it has been established that an unauthorized party may have accessed some Washington County Hospital documents. In response to this security incident, Washington County Hospital initiated a thorough examination and took immediate action to secure its systems. This involved hiring a cybersecurity firm and IT experts specifically for a forensic study to uncover the details of the incident. Washington County Hospital implemented several security measures, including but not limited to, cutting off network access, updating administrative passwords, reinstating operations in a controlled and secure manner, improving security protocols, and taking ongoing actions to reduce the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.

As a result of the data breach, Washington County Hospital is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 31,100 individuals were affected by the Washington County Hospital data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: first & last names, dates of birth, social security numbers, and medical data.

Additionally, it houses an 88-bed skilled nursing facility alongside a day room covering 7,000 square feet, all dedicated to delivering premier care and support to the local community and its neighbors.
