Recently, Select Education Group, which encompasses the Institute of Technology, National Holistic Institute, Bauman College, Fremont University, and Arch USA, encountered a significant cybersecurity breach. This incident allowed unauthorized parties to gain access to several of Select Education Group's computer systems, within which personal information of individuals was stored.

In response, Select Education Group has been investigating the breach, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and external cybersecurity professionals. It was revealed that an advanced threat actor, employing sophisticated methods to bypass Select Education Group's security measures, infiltrated their systems.

The breach was identified around November 5, 2023, after which Select Education Group has stated immediate actions were taken to disconnect the affected systems from the network, alert law enforcement, and initiate a thorough investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity specialists. Efforts have since been focused on understanding the scope and mechanics of the breach and enhancing the security infrastructure of Select Education Group's computer network to prevent future incidents.

As a result of the data breach, Select Education Group is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 67,000 individuals were affected by the Select Education Group data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, Social Security numbers, payment and billing data, and/or academic data.
