Data Breach Class Action Investigation

Attention: Consumers who used a debit card or credit card at Rutter’s from October 1, 2018, through May 29, 2019.

Abington Cole + Ellery is conducting a class action investigation regarding a confirmed data breach of Rutter's convenience stores and gas stations.

A Notice of Payment Card Incident issued by Rutter's on February 13, 2020, states that after a data breach investigation, Rutter's learned that malware installed on its payment processing systems may have permitted unauthorized individuals to gain access to credit card and debit card information used to make payments on point-of-sale terminals inside convenience stores and at fuel pumps.

Breached information may have included cardholder names, credit and debit card numbers, expiration dates, and internal verification codes.

According to Rutter's, the data breach at most locations began on October 1, 2018, and lasted through May 29, 2019. At a single location the data breach may have begun on August 30, 2018, and at nine locations the data breach may have begun as early as September 20, 2018.
