On June 26, 2023, Regional Family Medicine encountered an computer outage that disrupted local system access. Regional Family Medicine has stated that it promptly detected and contained this incident. This investigation revealed that from June 8 to June 26, 2023, an unidentified entity unlawfully accessed the network and possibly obtained specific files, some containing personal details of employees and patients.
By October 13, 2023, Regional Family Medicine had reviewed the affected information. Regional Family Medicine then endeavored to secure contact details for those whose information was implicated in the breach. Additionally, on December 12, 2023, Regional Family Medicine informed the potentially affected individuals about the incident.
Upon identifying the breach, Regional Family Medicine not only began an extensive investigation but also fortified its IT environment. This included implementing advanced security protocols to avert similar future occurrences. Furthermore, Regional Family Medicine reported the incident to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security, and the Arkansas State Police. Regional Family Medicine has stated that it remains committed to cooperating fully to ensure the responsible parties are held accountable.
As a result of the data breach, Regional Family Medicine is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.
Approximately 80,100 individuals were affected by the Regional Family Medicine data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, account information, biometric information, dates of birth, driver's license numbers or state identification numbers, health insurance data, medical data, and/or Social Security numbers.
