OrthoConnecticut data breach summary:

According to a Notice of Data Security Incident issued by OrthoConnecticut, OrthoConnecticut recently discovered unauthorized access within its network environment. Upon detecting the data breach, OrthoConnecticut claims it promptly initiated an investigation, secured its computer network, neutralized the threat, and notified law enforcement.

According to OrthoConnecticut, it also engaged third-party cybersecurity experts specialized in such breaches to closely collaborate in the investigation. This investigation sought to ascertain the extent and nature of the data breach and to determine if any sensitive personal or health information was compromised. The forensic analysis revealed that from November 24, 2023, to November 28, 2023, an unauthorized entity accessed OrthoConnecticut's computer network, potentially accessing and extracting files.

Following this discovery, OrthoConnecticut undertook a detailed review of the affected files. By March 27, 2024, it was found that some files containing personal information might have been compromised.

It is unclear if OrthoConnecticut is offering credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals at this time.

Approximately 118,000 individuals were affected by the OrthoConnecticut data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and medical data.
