October 16, 2023 -- Attention: victims of the OrthoAlaska data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced OrthoAlaska data breach.

On October 12, 2022, OrthoAlaska detected unusual activity in its network. Promptly, steps were taken to secure the systems. An investigation was initiated with the assistance of independent cybersecurity experts. It was subsequently revealed that certain patients' personal information may have been accessed without authorization. OrthoAlaska diligently assessed impacted data, verified affected individuals' identities, and offered complimentary services. This process concluded on September 13, 2023. Emphasizing data privacy and security, OrthoAlaska has implemented preventive measures and notified potentially affected individuals of the incident.

As a result of the data breach, OrthoAlaska is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 161,000 individuals were affected by the OrthoAlaska data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: name, date of birth, driver's license or state identification, social security number, payment card data, account number, routing number, medical data, account data, and/or health insurance data.
