On Q Financial
Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

April 3, 2024 -- Attention: victims of the On Q Financial data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by On Q Financial.

On Q Financial became aware of this issue on February 20, 2024, following an alert from ConnectWise, a provider of software and IT management solutions. The alert concerned a flaw in ScreenConnect, a remote computer access tool utilized by On Q Financial. Prompt action was taken by On Q Financial to address the issue, involving the application's immediate patching and upgrading, followed by a thorough investigation to assess the situation. This investigation unearthed dubious activities linked to the ScreenConnect tool. To gain a deeper understanding of the breach, On Q Financial hired an external computer forensics team to analyze the breach's nature and scope, particularly focusing on unauthorized access to or acquisition of client data.

The outcome of On Q Financial's efforts indicated that the vulnerability within ConnectWise's product had been effectively dealt with, ensuring the security of the company's computer networks. Nevertheless, the forensic analysis identified that on March 14, 2023, an unidentified party exploited this vulnerability, leading to the unauthorized extraction of certain clients' personal information from On Q Financial's computer systems. Following the initial warning from ConnectWise, On Q Financial claims it not only addressed the software issue but also embarked on the aforementioned investigative process. Furthermore, the firm has engaged with the FBI, pledging full cooperation with any subsequent inquiries.

In a proactive move to forestall future data breaches, On Q Financial claims it has bolstered its network security measures to safeguarding client information against similar vulnerabilities.
