On April 17, 2023, National Advisors Trust detected unusual activity in the form of suspicious emails originating from an employee's company email account. Immediately, National Advisors Trust took action by applying preventative measures and starting an in-depth investigation. They also sought the expertise of third-party digital forensics professionals to ascertain the origin and extent of the breach. This investigation revealed unauthorized access to four employee email accounts, which held client information.

National Advisors Trust, with the support of external data privacy and cybersecurity specialists, conducted a thorough examination to determine the individuals and types of personal information that might have been affected. Subsequently, National Advisors Trust confirmed that the compromised email accounts did include personal details of consumers. A detailed analysis was undertaken to pinpoint the individuals at risk and gather necessary contact details for notification.

National Advisors Trust carried out an extensive review of their systems to understand the breach and fortified their digital infrastructure to guard against future incidents. This involved the introduction of enhanced security protocols to bolster the stability and durability of their systems.

As a result of the data breach, National Advisors Trust is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 14,000 individuals were affected by the National Advisors Trust data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: name, social security number, driver's license or state identification, and/or account data (i.e., credit/debit card number or financial account number).
