February 9, 2022, Attention: victims of the Loyola University Medical Center data breach.

Loyola University Medical Center learned it was the victim of a data breach on or about October 31, 2021, when it learned an employee's email account had been experiencing unusual and unauthorized activity. After discovering the unusual and unauthorized activity on the email account, Loyola University Medical Center conducted an investigation to find the source of the unauthorized activity. The investigation pinpointed that an employee email account was likely open to unsanctioned access by unauthorized actors from October 29, 2021 to October 31, 2021.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, email addresses, health plan data, and certain medical data such as conditions, test results, medications, medical record numbers, medical facilities, and types of services.

Loyola University Medical Center immediately secured the employee’s email account after discovering the data breach to prevent the unauthorized actors from accessing the account in the future.
