October 3, 2023 -- Attention: victims of the Henwood Family Dentistry data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced Henwood Family Dentistry data breach.

On or about August 17, 2023, Henwood Family Dentistry experienced a cybersecurity incident in which an unauthorized party accessed their computer systems using a remote-access tool and user credentials. According to Henwood Family Dentistry, immediate actions were taken, including engaging a cybersecurity solutions firm, launching an investigation, disabling user access, changing passwords, replacing hard drives, and notifying law enforcement. According to Henwood Family Dentistry, the data breach is currently under further investigation and they are reviewing and enhancing existing security protocols to prevent future occurrences and to implementing additional measures to bolster their cybersecurity framework and safeguard against future cyber attacks.

As a result of the data breach, Henwood Family Dentistry is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

In excess of 7,000 individuals were affected by the Henwood Family Dentistry data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, email, telephone, driver’s license data, government-issued ID data, health insurance data, dental/orthodontic care data.
