August 10, 2023 -- Attention: victims of the Ernst & Young data breach.
On May 31, 2023, Ernst & Young received notification from its third-party provider, Progress Software Corporation, concerning a security flaw within the MOVEit Transfer solution. Many organizations, Ernst & Young among them, rely on MOVEit Transfer for data file transmissions. Upon discovering the data breach, Ernst & Young immediately initiated an investigation and implemented measures to reinforce its computer security. In addition, Ernst & Young collaborated with independent data security specialists to explore the extent of the breach and to seek guidance on formulating an appropriate response.
Approximately 30,000 individuals were affected by the Ernst & Young data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: social security number, address, first name or first initial and last name, payment card information (debit or credit), financial account data, and government-issued ID numbers.
