Edison Learning
Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

February 22, 2024 -- Attention: victims of the Edison Learning data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced Edison Learning data breach.

Around March 17, 2023, Edison Learning detected unusual activity in its computer networks. The company immediately took measures to protect its systems and initiated an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts. The investigation revealed that from March 7, 2023, to March 17, 2023, an unauthorized party had gained access to specific Edison Learning network systems and had downloaded files from these systems. To determine the impact of this breach and identify affected individuals, Edison Learning, with the support of an external data analysis firm, examined the compromised data.

On April 14, 2023, Edison Learning began proactively notifying affected employees by preliminary email and offered them credit monitoring services at no extra cost, even before fully understanding the contents of the accessed files or the identity of all impacted individuals. Following a detailed review of the data, Edison Learning further analyzed its internal records to gather contact details for all individuals affected to ensure they were informed about the breach.

In response to the breach, Edison Learning not only conducted an immediate investigation but also reviewed and enhanced the security of its systems to prevent future incidents. According to Edison Learning, it also reported the security breach to federal law enforcement agencies.

As a result of the data breach, Edison Learning is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services through Equifax to affected individuals.

Approximately 23,900 individuals were affected by the Edison Learning data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names and Social Security numbers.
