Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit
January 19, 2024 -- Attention: victims of the ELO CPAs & Advisors data breach.
Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced ELO CPAs & Advisors data breach.
ELO CPAs & Advisors encountered a security breach in its computer network around March 24, 2023. When notified of the breach, ELO CPAs & Advisors claims it promptly addressed and neutralized the threat and began an in-depth investigation. To assist in this process, ELO CPAs & Advisors enlisted the services of external cybersecurity experts who specialize in such situations. The purpose was to ascertain the scope of any potential data compromise on ELO CPAs & Advisors' computer network.
The investigation led to the finding that certain documents and records held by ELO CPAs & Advisors were accessed and possibly acquired during this breach. After an examination of these documents, on January 10, 2024, ELO CPAs & Advisors identified that some of the documents contained personal information.
Subsequent to the incident, there have been multiple instances of financial fraud reported, linked to the breach. This includes incidents where fraudulent tax returns were filed on behalf of some affected individuals.
As a result of the data breach, ELO CPAs & Advisors is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.
Approximately 15,100 individuals were affected by the ELO CPAs & Advisors data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: full name, Social Security Number, Date of Birth, address, and bank account data.
