Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

May 24, 2024 -- Attention: victims of the EFS Advisors data breach.

Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the data breach recently announced by EFS Advisors.

EFS Advisors data breach summary:

Around February 22, 2024, EFS Advisors identified a data security incident involving an unauthorized third party attempting to infiltrate its computer network. Upon discovery, EFS Advisors claims to have promptly secured its network and initiated a comprehensive investigation. This investigation, conducted with the assistance of independent IT security and forensic experts, aimed to ascertain the scope and extent of the unauthorized access to the systems and any personal information.

The investigation revealed that the incident was caused by a zero-day vulnerability in software used by an external IT provider. Despite the vulnerability originating from an application provided by an external IT vendor, EFS Advisors claims it has been working with cybersecurity specialists to analyze and strengthen its internal security framework.

As a result of the data breach, EFS Advisors is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 31,000 individuals were affected by the EFS Advisors data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names and Social Security numbers.
