October 1, 2023 -- Attention: victims of the Builders Mutual data breach.
Abington Cole + Ellery is investigating the recently announced Builders Mutual data breach.
On December 14, 2022, Builders Mutual detected suspicious activity on their computer systems and promptly initiated an investigation with external experts. They found unauthorized network access starting December 14, with files copied the next day. After reviewing these files, Builders Mutual confirmed on August 1, 2023, that they contained sensitive data. Builders Mutual claims it has since reported the incident to law enforcement and enhanced their data security measures and policies.
As a result of the data breach, Builders Mutual is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.
Approximately 64,000 individuals were affected by the Builders Mutual data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names and Social Security numbers.
