Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

On May 1, 2023, Bluefield University experienced a cybersecurity incident, leading to unauthorized access to its computer network and the potential exposure of maintained data. Immediately after detecting the breach, the university claims it secured its network and initiated a comprehensive investigation in collaboration with external cybersecurity experts, who specialize in analyzing such incidents.

Bluefield University has stated that it invested significant time and resources to identify the information in the compromised files. The investigation and review culminated on October 26, 2023, with Bluefield University learning that an unauthorized party potentially removed personal information of some individuals from its computer network.

As a result of the data breach, Bluefield University is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 23,000 individuals were affected by the Bluefield University data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: social security numbers.
