On November 11, 2023, a significant computer network disruption was experienced by Blackstone Valley Community Health Care ("BVCHC"). In response, BVCHC launched an immediate investigation, bringing on board experts in digital forensics to probe the data breach. The investigation revealed that unauthorized access might have led to the acquisition of certain BVCHC data.

According to BVCHC, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the compromised data to ascertain if any personal information was affected, alongside efforts to verify and update the contact details of individuals who might have been impacted. This review process was completed by March 11, 2024, confirming that personal information was compromised.

According to BVCHC, upon discovering the breach it not only undertook the aforementioned actions but also alerted the FBI and pledged full cooperation to ensure the culprits are held responsible. Furthermore, BVCHC claims it has taken proactive steps to bolster its network security to significantly reduce the likelihood of future incidents.

As a result of the data breach, Blackstone Valley Community Health Care is offering 2 years of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 34,400 individuals were affected by the Blackstone Valley Community Health Care data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, medical/health data, and Social Security numbers.
