March 27, 2023 -- Attention: victims of the Atlantic General Hospital data breach.
Atlantic General Hospital has revealed that on or about January 29, 2023, it found encrypted files on some of its computer systems. Atlantic General Hospital claims it immediately started an investigation and sought help from third-party computer forensic experts to figure out the extent and details of the issue. According to Atlantic General Hospital, it discovered that unauthorized access to some of its servers had occurred, beginning on January 20, 2023.
During its investigation, Atlantic General Hospital learned that certain files on its network had been accessed without permission. To better understand the situation, Atlantic General Hospital conducted a thorough review of these files to determine what kind of data they contained and whose information was affected.
Atlantic General Hospital claims that by March 6, 2023, it determined that the affected files contained specific information related to its patients and/or employees.
Approximately 30,704 individuals were affected by the Atlantic General Hospital data breach.
Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: name, and one or more of Social Security number, diagnosis/treatment data, medical history data, subscriber number, health insurance data, treating and/or referring physician, medical record number, date of birth, financial account data, and driver’s license number.
