The data breach investigation revealed that unauthorized access had occurred between October 6 and October 7, 2023, during which certain files and folders were accessed or taken without permission.

Following this discovery, AWG has states it began a thorough review to determine what sensitive information was compromised and identify the individuals potentially affected by the data breach. The company then obtained accurate contact information for these individuals. AWG also reported the incident to federal law enforcement and relevant regulatory bodies. Additionally, the company is reevaluating its policies, procedures, and processes to mitigate the chances of a similar data breach occurring in the future.

As a result of the data breach, Associated Wholesale Grocers is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 26,500 individuals were affected by the Associated Wholesale Grocers data breach.
