In a recent data breach notification filing, American Pain and Wellness revealed that on November 27th, 2022, it discovered suspicious activities involving some of its computer systems, servers, and network. Upon further investigation, American Pain and Wellness determined that its entire network, including backups, was affected by a malicious ransomware attack.

American Pain and Wellness took immediate action, initiating a thorough forensic investigation to determine the scope of the breach and extent of the encryption. Results of the investigation revealed that between November 10th and November 27th, 2022, unauthorized individuals may have accessed and stolen sensitive and private data from the compromised computer systems.

As the investigation continued, on January 24th, 2023, American Pain and Wellness discovered other concerning details: the data breach potentially affected certain employees and patients. According to the company, sensitive information such as names in conjunction with Social Security numbers may have been compromised by the unauthorized individuals, leaving the data breach victims’ information vulnerable to potential misuse.

Approximately 7,457 individuals were affected by the American Pain and Wellness data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: patient names and patient Social Security numbers.
