Affiliated Dermatologists and Dermatologic Surgeons recently experienced a data breach. On March 5, 2024, Affiliated Dermatologists reportedly discovered a cybersecurity attack where an unauthorized third party accessed their network and left a ransom note. Upon discovering the breach, Affiliated Dermatologists claims to have immediately cut off network access, notified their third-party IT provider, and hired specialized cybersecurity experts to conduct a forensic investigation.

By April 10, 2024, the investigation revealed that the unauthorized access occurred between March 2 and March 5, 2024, during which the attacker copied data from Affiliated Dermatologists's network, including personal information of patients and employees. In response, Affiliated Dermatologists says it swiftly investigated and confirmed the security of their systems. They disconnected network access and engaged cybersecurity professionals to restore the network and conduct a thorough investigation.

Affiliated Dermatologists has since enhanced their network security by implementing 24/7 monitoring, multi-factor authentication for remote access, and resetting passwords for all network accounts.

As a result of the data breach, Affiliated Dermatologists and Dermatologic Surgeons is offering free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 373,000 individuals were affected by the Affiliated Dermatologists and Dermatologic Surgeons data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, mailing addresses, medical treatment data, health insurance claims data, driver’s license numbers, and/or passport numbers.
