On May 16, 2023, Adams Bank & Trust identified suspicious activity within its computer systems. In response, the bank claims it immediately isolated the systems from the network to secure them. Concurrently, an investigation commenced to ascertain the extent and nature of the breach. This probe revealed that an unauthorized individual accessed specific systems of Adams Bank & Trust between May 15 and May 16, 2023. Initial findings suggested no data compromise. However, subsequent discoveries on September 15, 2023, revealed that the intruder indeed acquired certain files.

Upon detecting the breach, Adams Bank & Trust claims it swiftly initiated measures to manage and investigate the incident, while also evaluating the network's security. The bank promptly informed law enforcement and regulatory bodies as mandated. Further, in alignment with its dedication to information security, Adams Bank & Trust claims it has reviewed and updated its policies and procedures. These enhancements aim to bolster security and monitoring systems, significantly mitigating the likelihood of a similar occurrence in the future.

As a result of the data breach, Adams Bank & Trust is offering free credit monitoring and/or identity theft protection services to affected individuals.

Approximately 23,000 individuals were affected by the Adams Bank & Trust data breach.

Breached data may include, but is not necessarily limited to: names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account data, payment card data, and government issued identification data.
